Dear Parents and Students,

We would like to welcome you to another exciting year at Bechtel Elementary School (BES), home of the Bechtel Bulldogs. We hope that you will take full advantage of all the varied learning opportunities available to you here. We encourage you to become familiar with the school programs and the academic curriculum. We have a strong School-Home-Community Partnership program, and we welcome new members. Volunteer opportunities are continually available through the PTA, SAC, and each classroom teacher. Let’s work together to make this the best school experience for your child/children.

The Bechtel Elementary School Community is committed to providing a learning environment that prepares students for the 21st Century.

 

School Improvement Plan
Each DoDDS school develops a plan to improve the educational program offered to its students. The faculty assesses children's academic and social needs, set goals toward meeting those needs, and determines the resources available. A committee of faculty members and parents guides this process of school improvement, monitoring and assessing progress toward goal attainment. Our two school improvement goals are:

Goal 1: All students will improve written communication and expression across the curriculum.

Goal 2: All students will improve their problem solving skills in all curricular areas.

School Accreditation
Bechtel Elementary School is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). We are on a five-year cycle for accreditation with a continuing School Improvement Plan (SIP) in progress each school year. The NCA visitation team visited BES to validate our school's self-study and school improvement plan in February 2005; we received the highest accreditation NCA provides.
